Services Environnementaux PUR is seeking a dynamic individual to join its team for the position of environmental Field Technician. The primary role of an Environmental Technician at Service Environnementaux PUR is to ensure the proper implementation and execution of environmental services, with a focus on preserving natural ecosystems, human health, and regulatory compliance. This involves field monitoring, sampling and analysis, adherence to environmental regulations, support for remediation in case of contamination, data management and reporting, as well as environmental education and awareness.
Your-day-to-day:
• Field Monitoring: Environmental field technicians conduct on-site assessments and monitoring activities to evaluate environmental conditions, such as air quality, water quality, soil contamination, and noise levels. They utilize specialized equipment and follow established protocols to collect accurate data for analysis. • Manage equipment inventory, prepare equipment and instrumentation orders;
• Sampling and Analysis: They are responsible for collecting environmental samples, including water, soil, air, and biological specimens, following standardized procedures. They may also assist in laboratory analysis to identify pollutants, assess contamination levels, and determine compliance with regulatory standards.
• Prepare accurate and detailed inspection, measurement and calibration reports; • Environmental Compliance: Technicians help ensure that environmental projects and activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and permits. They assist in conducting environmental audits, inspections, and assessments to identify compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Remediation Support: In cases of environmental contamination or pollution incidents, field technicians support remediation efforts by assisting in cleanup operations, implementing containment measures, and monitoring the effectiveness of remedial actions.
• Data Management and Reporting: They maintain accurate records of environmental monitoring data, observations, and findings. They contribute to the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and documentation required for regulatory submissions and client communications. • Perform quality assurance audits on acquired data;
• Oversee the data management systems used for data acquisition and storage to ensure high-quality and reliable data are being obtained. Your skills, our requirements! • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in technology in engineering, applied science or environmental science;
• Willing and available for travel to sites, primarily in Québec;
• Experience in data management using industry standard software and equipment;
• Interest and/or experience in the renewable energy industry is an asset.
